Industrial Material Center is a family owned business which opened in 1990. Industrial Material Center evolved from our original business, Partners Machine Shop. Egon Claus was the founder of Partners Machine Shop which was established in 1979 and continues to run alongside Industrial Material Center.

 

During his days with the machine shop, Egon found that it was costly to buy full lengths of material when only 10 – 12” of material was all that was really needed. Finding that he was left with remnants that he couldn’t really use, he thought it would be a good idea to open up a distribution centre as a way to supply not only his own Machine Shop, but also help other machine shops in the area that run into the same problem. Egon’s “retirement project” opened in 1990 and has been growing rapidly ever since, serving the needs of the Stoney Creek/Hamilton and surrounding areas. Although Egon is 83, he is still actively involved in the company, but leaves the day to day operations to his children Sylvia and Eric.
